Members of San Gabriel Tennis Club and their families celebrated the conclusion of another year of friendship and tennis at the Zen Buffet on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Ben Lu welcomed everyone to the gala event. Representing our out-going president Sandy Lee, Sandy’s husband Steve Marsden conveyed greetings from Hawaii where Sandy is caring for her Mother. Sandy thanked the board members for keeping SGTC one of the best tennis clubs in southern California. Mike Lu, the new board president, introduced the new board for 2015. We are pleased to have Alvin Lee and Vi Luan Ha join the board while many other board members are returning to lead SGTC for another year. The SGTC Board for 2015 includes: President – Mike Lu Vice-President – Alvin Lee Treasurer – James Brentzel Secretary – Richard Wun Tournament Coordinator – Ben Lu Scramble Coordinator – Luan Ha Social Coordinator – Tony Wong Webmaster – Lisa Szeto Board Advisors – Lily Ng and Sandy Lee Players with the best winning records at the monthly scramble events received their plaques. Ben Lu won first place followed by Tri Kha in second place. Simon Tieu was third. After the new board was introduced, everyone feasted on the buffet of Asian and American food. All of us enjoyed the many varieties of tasty seafood featured on the buffet. While eating, we watched for pictures of ourselves and our friends in the fantastic slide show prepared by Tony Law. Following dinner, Lily Ng led the drawings for door prizes and the 50-50 raffle. Tony Wong, Amber Marsden and Jeremy Lee were the lucky winners in the 50-50 raffle which raised $100 for SGTC. Amber Marsden and Mike Lu organized competition among tables in a spirited game called “Heads-Up.” This game is sort of a cross between Twenty Questions and Jeopardy played on a cell phone. We ended the party with the drawing for the grand prizes. Felix Chan won the hundred-dollar gift card generously donated by one of our members. Tony Law won the valuable one-year subscription to DirectTV. Jon Pang who works at DirectTV arranged this fantastic door prize for SGTC. |
