Turkey Tussle
Tournament Nov 10th was super fun!
Mike Lu, tourney
coordinator, was surprised with a birthday pumpkin pie (decorated with his
name!) and blew out candles after he made a wish and club members sang
"Happy Birthday To You." 34 or so members and guests came
to play on a brisk and cool, but clear, sunny day (we were all relieved as
there was no rain, per the weather forecast). Great food and company. A
team couple, Mike & Amber, organized the tourney for all of us. Just like cramming for their
graduate school classes, Mike put the lineup together late into the night before, while Amber wrapped the thoughtful prizes. Needless to say, the
8 am set up time came much too early.
Good to see you, Leslie Mach, former board member back to LA after completing his Graduate program in School Counseling. Hope you had a good time at your first SGTC tourney, Lily Fang and Mimi Chan - you, too, Jessie Chen. Sandy was so impressed with your improved tennis play and even got to win with you, Jessie! Peter Chiu - hope you can come play tennis next year. #1 Winner with most games won - Colin Tang! Other prize winners were Yoshi, Nick, Jin, Tony Law, Linda, and Lily Ng! Winners picked their prize but then the next person got to 'steal' their prize if the wanted to or pick a different prize - the white elephant game was a nice twist. Muchas Gracias for all the help in setting up and cleaning afterward. Especially to Anna and Yoshi's wife, Nobu, who we finally got to meet (from Osaka!) Thanks for the soy sauce, sugar mochi balls! Anna, everyone loved your Furukaki Snack and the cold noodle somen. Lily, the balloons you brought put a nice birthday touch and the turkey balloon reminded us of all we have to be thankful for. Great tennis friends and good health. http://picasaweb.google.com/sangabrieltc/111012SGTCTurkeyTussleMikeSBirthday |
